Research

The Department of Ophthalmology works to advance patient outcomes through research into the origins of ocular disesase, as well as new diagnostic and treatment modalities. The visual science community home to the School of Medicine conducts research in such areas as retinal pathophysiology, prosthetic vision, novel microsurgical tools, advanced diagnostics and imaging, therapeutic laser applications, ophthalmic tissue engineering, corneal prosthetics and ocular microbiology.

Our research efforts span both the basic sciences and clinical care.
