Basic Research
Stanford University contains a vibrant and rapidly growing visual science community conducting research in such areas as retinal pathophysiology, prosthetic vision, novel microsurgical tools, advanced diagnostics and imaging, therapeutic laser applications, ophthalmic tissue engineering, artificial cornea and ocular microbiology.
Many of the basic research projects are conducted in collaboration with Hansen Experimental Physics Laboratory providing access to sophisticated lasers, electronics, optical systems and expertise.
